What is a RP venue

A RP venue is a player-created establishment that allows for roleplay, regardless of whether it is light or immersive roleplay. It is absolutely okay to visit an RP venue and not want to roleplay. If any other players approach, feel free to send them an out-of-character (OOC) /tell, and let them know that though you appreciate the gesture, you’re not here to roleplay.

Where to find an RP venue

Venues typically advertise on Party Finder or through websites like X (Twitter).  If you’d like to see what venues are currently open or about to open, simply open Party Finder, and go to the 'Other' tab as shown below.

Nice things to do:

Usually, when entering a RP venue, you’ll receive a greeting along with the venue’s website, and/or menu of services. If you’d like to thank the venue owner for hosting their establishment, simply purchase any item or service from the venue.

Tipping:

You may also “tip” the owner or their employees if you happen to have deep pockets and feel that you’ve really enjoyed your time.

Simply saying thank you:

If you do not have the Gil to do so, you may opt to thank the owner for hosting by sending them an out-of-character /tell, or roleplay it!

/tell "Wonderful establishment! I really enjoyed my time here, thank you!"

Things to avoid doing

Spamming emotes:

In RP venues, say chat is shared amongst all the players. To ensure that clutter is kept to a minimum, please do not spam emotes. This allows those participating in the say chat to more easily track their conversations amongst the players they are conversing with. Even with emote logs turned off, emotes often come with a sound that can become a nuisance if used repeatedly.

Flailing your weapon:

We’re sure your weapon is quite the sight to behold, but swinging your weapon around in a venue or using skills on your battle hot bar is usually not welcome in venues that aren’t advertised as a fight club or battle arena. Be sure to read the venue's rules, and adhere to them. Treat yourself as a guest in someone else's home.

Minions and Summons:

Leave your pets at the door! Having your minions or summons running around a venue can be quite distracting to all the guests.

Minions and summons take up a player spot in the allowance of players in personal houses, preventing other players from getting into the house whenever it hits the player housing capacity. Be a mindful patron and respect the immersion of the guests as well as the players running the venue. Please put your minions and summons away!

Tags:

Staff at venues will usually have the Looking to Meld Materia icon or Looking for Party icon above their heads. This is to help players distinguish between staff and guests. These icons are reserved for staff, so please be sure to not go into a venue with these icons as it will confuse the guests. If you have any questions or would like to avail of their services, feel free to send them a /tell, and they’ll have you sorted in no time!

Shout or yell chat:

In order to properly communicate their services or schedule of events, /shout and /yell chat are reserved for the staff of the venue. Please respect the venue owners for putting in their passion, time, and effort by not using the shout or yell chat.

Venue owners spend a lot of time creating websites and designing spaces for players to interact; oftentimes it’s thankless work! Please be courteous and respect their hard work so that everyone can continue to have fun!
